subject: Get Ready The Big Christmas Delivery Rush Is Here [print this page]

It should come as no surprise to learn that the run up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year for those in self employed courier jobs. Its always been a busy time, but the explosion of internet shopping in recent years has led to an increase in the number of parcels being delivered all over the UK.

Just as some people find shopping online more comfortable and convenient than shopping in the high street, so couriers in self employed courier jobs find themselves working longer hours to make sure all those presents get delivered.

The No.1 delivery man?

Of course, Father Christmas is really the worlds best delivery worker, making sure every parcel that needs to be delivered gets to its intended destination. By the time every child wakes up on Christmas morning, hell have delivered millions upon millions of presents down chimneys and into living rooms across the world. As self employed courier jobs go, he has one of the best, working just one night every year and getting the rest of the year off to recover. No doubt hell need it by the time the sun rises across the globe on Christmas morning.

Last minute panic

For all the preparation that goes into the festive season every year, it is still true to say that many people end up panicking over their Christmas shopping at the last minute. Even those who are well prepared often end up ordering those last few items online with just a few short days to spare.

This means that while delivery workers start getting busy from November onwards, December is the month when things really get interesting. For many companies its the middle of December that proves to be the busiest time. Of course, once the last posting dates for the normal posting system go by, its down to the couriers to step up and provide the services required for those last few essential days. Many stores and websites offer next day delivery on orders placed up to the 23rd December. This means those with self employed courier jobs are the ones out early on Christmas Eve, making sure everyone has the parcels they ordered in a hurry the day before.

One thing is for sure then every delivery person working hard in the run up to Christmas will be looking forward to the moment they deliver the last parcel of the festive season. Then its time to sit back and relax and breathe a sigh of relief as they realise theyve completed their hard work. Itll be back to normal after Christmas of course, but at least they can relax and know theyve been able to play their essential part in the making of Christmas.

We all look forward to different things over the festive season. But getting our parcels on time is certainly one of the most rewarding!
