subject: Reward Your Employees With A New Office Design [print this page]

. Our working hours are more demanding than anywhere else in Europe with a good few of us spending time in offices which are uninspiring and fail to provide the sort of working environment we need to motivate ourselves.

The way your office is arranged and organised can even have a significant effect on the health and overall well-being of your employees. A lack of natural light is one such issue as there is nothing worse than being forced to perform your duties in an office space that feels dark and dingy. The use of partitioning between neighbouring desks can also prevent workers from being able to communicate with one another; a crucial component of any successful business.

If your office in its current form displays any of these traits then it is recommended that you start from scratch and undergo an office refurbishment to help encourage productivity and give employees the motivation they need to come in every morning. Whether you have an expansive office space or are constrained for floor space, there are various ways and means of creating an office design that is certain to stand the test of time.

Look to arrange the workstations for your employees in rows or clusters with no obstructions in front or at the side of them so that they can easily talk to those around them. If your workforce is comprised of teams or groups you will be well aware of how much of a positive effect collaboration can have on individual performances as we all need assistance from time to time.

Equally as important is the need to ensure that you have plenty storage space where you can keep documentation, work files and folders and other essential work-related items out of the way and close to hand as and when required. Dedicated areas for printers and any other items of equipment most associated with a computer will also be essential.

Choose a colour scheme that only serves to brighten up the atmosphere as you will be surprised at just how much an inviting office can transform the way in which people work. Light colours always work well.

The investment you make into a new office fit out will see employees come to work with a real spring in their step.
