In fact for the quintessential fitness freak exercising is an obsession they cant get enough of.

A few minutes of physical activity are most certainly essential to lead a healthy life but if indulging in a strenuous routine, it is important to do it right.

This article briefly lists out 7 things to keep in mind while working out-

1. Warm-up and Cool-down A warm body is less prone to injuries. Make sure to include a 5 minute warm up in your schedule and dont just plunge into a high power workout right away. Similarly do a 5-10 minute cool down post workout and bring your heart rate and body temperature back to normal.

2. Sip Water- Keep sipping water, preferably flavored with electrolytes. You are constantly perspiring and the body needs to be hydrated and replenished of all essential salts and sugars. However, remember to sip, not gulp.

3. Wear Correct Shoes- Youve heard your trainer say this a million times but ignored him because you couldnt be bothered with the extra effort or expense of changing your current pair. But wearing the right shoes, appropriate to the type of workout you are doing, is crucial.

4. Stop Before its Too Late- Listen to your body. Pushing yourself to complete those last five crunches is one thing, but working out when you are sick or when a body part is hurting unbearably is just uncalled for. Stop working out before it is too late; else you will end up with irrecoverable injuries.

5. Fix those Injuries- When lifting weights, you may break a bone, or injure yourself by pulling a muscle or tearing a ligament, dont just wait for it to recover on its own, nurse yourself back with appropriate medication and physiotherapy.

6. Eat After not Before- Eat at least an hour and a half before working out. Give time to the body to digest what you have eaten else it will throw it out of the system. Also, your metabolism is the highest after you workout, by eating then you will not only digest your food quicker but also burn it faster.

7. Dont Follow Advice Blindly- There are many people claiming to be experts and ready to give advice at the drop of a hat. Do what your bodys capacity permits and follow only what suits your body. Do not make the mistake of following advice blindly.

In the quest to lose weight fast, a lot of people ignore the basic must dos while working out. Following simple rules however will not only ensure the same results but also prevent possible injuries.
