Volunteering in The Philippines is something that many people around the world aspire to do at some time in their life. Volunteering work in The Philippines is now available for those who want to make a difference in the wonderful but very poor country where a lot of help is needed to help the children in need.

With a population of more than 90 million people the Philippines is a very populated Asian country. The Philippines consists of more than 7000 islands but most the of its population lives on just about 10 of them. The culture of the Philippines is a combination of Asian and Spanish influence. The people are an ethnic mix of Malay, Chinese and Spanish. Since the Spaniards dominated the Philippines for over 300 years many of their traditions originate from the Spaniards. Over 90% of the country is Christian.

Filipino people are very hospitable and friendly people who love to welcome foreign visitors to their country and share their culture with them. Volunteers can really experience this cultural exchange by doing their volunteer work and staying in a homestay environment and get to know the real Philippines whilst giving back to communities in need.

Volunteers provide assistance to disadvantaged children, focusing on childcare, school children, schools and community buildings, promoting reading and the environment. These are some of the many volunteering activities volunteers can do in The Philippines.

As a volunteer in the Philippines you can provide love, affection, education and support to children in childcare, help to improve education and facilities in schools ensuring children learn and flourish. You can also provide education, promote the importance of books and reading, inter-cultural exchange and understanding in Filipino communities.

The Philippines has been called the pearl in Asia and a magnificent travel destination. And the country has many wonderful places, great people and a very interesting culture to offer to the travelers. More and more travelers are discovering The Philippines and its wonderful sights.

The other side of the coin is the poverty in The Philippines which is widespread and affects the children of The Philippines in a big way. It is not uncommon that children have not enough basic food everyday and can not afford to go to school. Any child should have enough to eat and a chance to get an eductation. Unfortunately that is not always the case especially in developing countries such as The Philippines.

Giving your time to volunteer to make a difference in the lives of these children is such an important contribution to the development and future of these children. It will give them a chance to be more healthy and develop themselves for a better future.

Teaching English is very important for the education in The Philippines as it will enable the kids to later on get a good job and make a living for themselves. It will also help the country to develop more and attract more visitors so they can enjoy more income from tourism such as more established tourist destinations such as Thailand.

Making a difference in developing countries is possible and by volunteering in The Philippines you can directly benefit children and communities in need in a worthwhile way whilst getting to know the culture and the people.
