subject: Grow Your Muscles Using These 5 Fast Steps [print this page]

You have been looking around for some good advice on body building because for some reasons, you are less than satisfied with your current body state. You are eager to start but am clueless on how to begin. This short 5 steps will help to get you started on your journey to achieving the body you desire.

1) Visit your doctor for a medical checkup.

It is important before you embark on your training regime to know your body condition. If there are any health issues such as any prior injury, your doctor might be able to provide some safe diet or training recommendations. Knowing your medical health statistics like cholesterol/triglycerides, blood pressure, fasting glucose, and possibly even bone density (BMD) for older gentlemen (or even ladies especially) could set the markers for you to work towards improving. Compare the results 12 weeks after you start on your fitness and training regime and get motivated by the improvements in your health statistics. After all, you want to feel good as well as look good.

2) Clear out the trash.

By trash, i mean all the unhealthy food like your ice-cream, oreo cookies, crackers, cakes and other unhealthy sinful snacks. Restock your fridge with good wholesome food packed with lots of vitamins, calcium, proteins and minerals such as eggs/egg whites, low fat milk, fresh lean meat, salsa, mustard, yogurt, fresh fruits and vegetables, bottled water etc. All of these foods will make up your healthful eating plan and provide you with a balanced blend of proteins, carbs, and healthy fats. Another kind of trash you must clear out is the negative thoughts in your mind and the negative influence in your life. Your mentality is absolutely crucial to your body building success. Clear all self-defeating thoughts like this will never work, tired from work to visit the gym or you are not suitable for this exercise. Instead, think of the positives like how you will be enjoying the stares from your girlfriend and possibly many other girls when you visit the beach the next time. Also, stick with friends who are also equally committed to building their fitness, people who will support you instead of people who will make you skip your gym session or eat food which you really shouldn't. In short, stay focussed and positive while clearing out all the negative things, thoughts and people.

3) Equip yourself

You should prepare everything you need for gym workouts. It's also a good idea to pick up some minimalist home equipment for those really busy days when you might not be able to make it to the gym. Some training items include good fitting running shoes, comfortable workout wear, MP3 player, water bottle, towel, resistance band, dumbells or kettlebells. Having the proper and correct gear will make your training sessions easier and more enjoyable. Take time to go shopping and select quality products which you fancy. After all, you should enjoy all your workout sessions to the max.

4) Pre-workouts

If you have not been working out for a long time or it is the first time you are doing so, it might be a good idea to start with some simple pre-workouts at home to prime your body for the upcoming transformation. Performing workouts at home can also help make you feel more comfortable when you stroll into the gym. Start these workouts as soon as possible and use them for 1-2 weeks as you get everything ready for your transformation. Light cardio workouts will help improve heart health, boost your cardiovascular fitness, and increase your mobility. Select your favored method of cardio training (walking will work well for most people), and aim to do it 15 to 30 minutes per day, 3 to 5 days per week. It's also a good idea to get started with some very basic strength training movements to help build some muscular strength before you begin training heavier at the gym. Perform a circuit of four to five different bodyweight movements, aiming for 10-15 reps per exercise. Take 30-60 seconds to rest between each circuit. Pick one exercise per body part to build a full-body workout and you will be well on your way to packing on additional muscles.

5) Set goals

Setting goals will let you have a target to aim towards. Goals should be set realistically and should be quantifiable. Eg, to lose a certain weight by 12 weeks or bench 10 more pounds, run a mile under 10 minutes in your next training cycle. Health-related goals are also important, as are personal, lifestyle-based goals. Want to reduce your unhealthy cholesterol, have more energy to play with your kids? Write it down. The more you have to work towards to, the greater your chances of success.

Finally after these 5 basic steps, the last step is to finally get started and begin. If you are following on a certain training regime, be sure to read up on the details of it, be familiar on what you are expected to do and understand what it is supposed to do for you. Happy training, my friend.
