Oxnard Now Has Air Service to and from Sin City!
Traveling to and from Las Vegas has never been easier with the new air service provided by MVP Airways LLC. The carrier is providing nonstop service between Oxnard and Las Vegas, with one flight scheduled three days a week. Charter flights are via a 30 passenger Saab 340B aircraft operated by its direct air carrier operator, Pentastar Aviation Charter LLC. Flights to Oxnard are scheduled on Fridays, Sundays and Wednesdays from McCarran International in Las Vegas to Oxnard Airport. Viva Las Vegas!
Get a Jump on the Holidays!
Shortly after Thanksgiving, the City of Oxnard gears up for the holiday season with the start of a series of special events. Taking place first is the 62nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m. in Plaza Park, Downtown Oxnard. Oxnards residents and visitors come together to light up Ventura Countys tallest Christmas tree over 110 feet tall! The next day, Saturday, December 1, two events take place in Downtown Oxnard The Annual Oxnard Tamale Festival from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the Annual Oxnard Christmas Parade themed The Music and Magic of Christmas. At the Tamale Festival, you can enjoy some of the tastiest tamales in town from sweet to savory, and traditional to gourmet. Plus, you can try your hand at tamale making with live demonstrations, a tamale eating contest, live music, kids activities and a holiday crafts fair. The annual Christmas Parade is also a favorite filled with colorful marching bands, equestrian units, local school groups, spirited floats and so much more! The holidays wouldnt be complete without Gingerbread Houses Heritage Square in Downtown Oxnard will have a full display of Gingerbread House filled with yummy ingredients. If you havent been to the new location for the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, you are in for a treat! The Maritime Museum is now located in its new expanded home in the west end of Channel Islands Harbor and contains fine art with a maritime theme plus models of historic sailing ships. The new location is situated in a two-story building on the waters edge that includes a breathtaking panoramic view of Channel Islands Harbor. Special exhibits and guest artists are also featured. The Museum is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Be sure to stop by!
