The Barcelona Zoo was inagurated in the 1893, during the Merc fiestas of the city, and there was the official exhibiton an important private animals collection belonging to Mr. Luis Mart Codolar, a collection that first established on his own farm and later on was moved to the Parl of the Ciutadella of Barcelona.
There are several forms of moving around the city Zoo, by train, you can also do horse ride, rent an electric car specially designed for this purpose, or rent a car with sits for 2 to 4 people. There are also many places for the kids to play, fast food restaurants, souvenir shops, nice picnic zone and a great dolphin show that you can view for free at certain hours of the day, especially on week ends and on Hholidays. The ticket is around the 17 Euros per person, with special discount for children and groups.
