subject: Training And Development- The Best Way Make Your Employees Professionals [print this page]

Training and Development is a field of human resource management focused on increasing the performance of individuals and groups in organizational settings. There are three broad categories involved in Training & Development: Training, Education, and Development. Incorporated in these categories are the three different actions involved in Training and Development. Training refers to the skillets and learning that an individual in an organization has learned up until the current point. Education is centered around skillets and jobs that an individual may hold in the future. Development refers to the skillets and activities that the organization training the individual may employ in the future. These three basic categories encompass all the activities included in Training and Development.

Aside from the three categories of activities involved in Training and Development there are some key characters involved in any type of T&D, sometimes referred to as stakeholders? The sponsors of Training and Development include senior managers in the company. They are typically the individuals responsible for deciding what specific types of training and development that will be employed. The clients include business managers. The participants are the people undergoing the process of training and development. The facilitators are Human Resource Management staff. The providers are specialists in the field. Each group has its own agenda and motivations and it is important to keep each group in check so these motivations dont clash up against each other in the process of Training and Development.

The first basic step in any kind of Training and Development is to assess the current situation. Through assessing current conditions the most effective training and development solutions can be reached. Situations range wildly and the intensity of the issue can range wildly from being almost non-existent to being a completely organization-crippling problem. In either situation after deciding what issue to work on, facilitators will take participants and train them in specific skillets needed to face these challenges.

In addition to knowing what specific issue or skillet you intend to work on through Training and Development, it is important to know what type of program is best for the employee. To that end there are different options available, including external training and internal training programs. External training is focused on training new skills that the company themselves isnt proficient in training. Internal training is more tailored to the unique challenges that an organization might face.

The development of employees is an important part of any business, and through the use of professional Training and Development, your organization can ensure that your employees are trained to face the problems and challenges that they will be sure to face in the future.
