subject: The Revolution Of New Language By Sms [print this page]

How many people today while chatting and texting writes u instead of you? Probably we all. With new changing trends in SMS, we have actually forgotten how to write complete neat sentences consisting of words in full forms. The SMS and social media have indeed changed the way of communication for each person who uses both these channels. Middle class, upper middle class people, college going youngsters, teenagers and youth use text messages for many purposes every day.

Ever since the SMS service came into existence, it reduced the use of calls; letters, emails, greeting cards etc. The many social networking sites too which the current world is engaged in has once again changed the way people use the English language. Every conversational chat that takes place on the internet at least has three to five LOLs, BRB, BTW, OMG and so on. What are these? These are short forms used to convey an expression a message and information. The use of such short forms has had such a great impact that some prefer taking down notes in the SMS language.

We often wonder whether in the years to come we would be able to read letters and emails in proper English language without any flaws and shortcuts. Today we have emails, free SMS service, Twitter, Facebook and in spite of having, so many mediums for communication we fail to express our emotions and expressions. These days youngsters feel surfing FB on computer is insufficient. They have to necessarily have their cell phones hooked to Gtalk or FB. A few teenagers believe that if ever Facebook restricted the access of it for people below 15 or 14 it would be a shame.

Talking about SMS and social networks, they make life easy for people having similar interests. Every other doctor, professor, engineer, entrepreneur we meet today have their accounts in these social networking websites. As stated before that in the years to come, people would converse only in the language used in text messages; it is hard to say that will they use short forms to communicate because they prefer smileys, gestures, and avatars.

A strong reason for SMS being preferred is its low cost. SMS is cheap compared to calls and apart from that the free SMS services, being provided by many free SMS websites these days makes it even more popular. Talking more on the changing communication trends, it is going to undergo tremendous change in the near future diversely.
