Located in the Deccan Plateau, Nagpur is known as the orange capital of India because it is the major cultivator and trade centre of oranges. The location of this city is almost in the centre of the country. For this reason, it has the Zero Mile Marker, which indicates geographical centre of India.

Foundation of the city was laid by Bakht Buland Shah, who was the Gond King of Deogad, in 1703. It was named Nagpur because the Nag River flows through the city. Gavilgad Fort, Dragon Palace Temple, Forts of Balapur, Adasa, Maharaj Baug and Zoo are the sightseeing attractions in and around the city.

The distance from Nagpur to Delhi is around 1170 km. Delhi has several monuments, archaeological structures and shrines to attract travellers. Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Purana Qila and Jama Masjid are the major tourist attractions in the capital city.

Among other major attractions in Delhi include India Gate, Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Raj Ghat, Birla Mandir, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Rajpath, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple, Iskcon Temple, Jantar Mantar, National Museum, International Dolls Museum, National Zoological Park, National Railway Museum, Teen Murti Bhavan and Safdarjung's Tomb.

Delhi is well connected with Nagpur by air, rail and road. Major airlines like IndiGo, Air India and Jet Airways and others have direct and stopover flights from Nagpur to Delhi. Sonegaon airport in Nagpur is situated six km from the city centre. Taxi cabs charge a rate of Rs.150 to travel from the city centre to the airport. The flight time from Nagpur to Delhi is less than two hours.

Both the cities are well connected with rail. There are 28 trains from Nagpur to Delhi, of which many are run on certain days of the week. The daily direct trains from Nagpur to Delhi are Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala Express (No.12625), Chennai-Delhi Grant Trunk Express (No.12615), Chennai-Delhi

Tamil Nadu Express (No.12621), Hyderabad-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express (No.12723), Hyderabad-New Delhi Dakshin Express (No.12721), Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhatisgarh Express (No.18237) and Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Link Express (No.12721).

On the other hand, while Yeshwantpur-Nizamuddin Karnataaka Sampark Kranti Express No.12649 runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; Bangalore-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (No.12493) runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Nineteen other trains run in certain days of the week. While Rajdhani Express and Sampark Kranti Express take about 23 hours to travel from Nagpur to Delhi, others take more than 26 hours.

Since the distance from Nagpur to Delhi is more than 1150 km, travel by road is not very popular. There are no regular buses between the two cities. Taxi cabs are available in this route. They charge a rate ranging from Rs.12 to Rs.25 per kilometre (one way) depending on the type of vehicle.
