The body is programmed to pile up fat. Think of it as your own bodys defense mechanism against impending hunger. When you consume excess calories, your body takes this chance to save up for the rainy day. The excess calories go into the storage called fat.

Many people give up on losing weight because they are discouraged about working themselves like crazy and fail to see any difference. After that they blame themselves for gaining fat in the first place, blaming their genetics, and they give up hope of the fat ever going away. Well at least they tried, they think.

Knowing the right theories about weight loss can help you choosing to do what is right to get you on the right path. This article only focuses on 1 exercise of weight loss - walking.

Many might think that walking is a really slow exercise and that they should be running to see results faster. Well they are not wrong about it. However, one needs to consider the start state before they decide on a suitable fat loss regime.

Lets just assume that you have gained weight recently, and your muscles are not accustomed to the weight gain yet. Suddenly deciding to pick up the running shoes and run like theres no tomorrow will not help. Instead, your muscles will grow to support this increase in weight. You do not lose fat but instead you will gain muscles, putting even more weight.

Starting with walking builds up the body energy level, and you can slowly get your health back before doing any of the strenuous exercises. Start with walking a few minutes each day and gradually increase the distance pace and duration. For optimum results, brisk walking of at least 30 minutes is recommended.

One of the best things about walking is you can easily incorporate it into your lifestyle. No special equipment, gear, clothes or even shoes are needed to start walking and keep walking. Suppose you drive to work every day. You might try parking your car further from your office than you usually do. Walk the rest of the distance to work, and enjoy the scenery while you are doing it. Gradually park further away and walk more, making it a daily affair. In 2-4 weeks you should be able to notice a rise in your energy level, and a visible reduce in your waist line.
