subject: Widow/orphan Support [print this page] Social Aid for Commom Humanitrian (SACH) supports orphans as well as their widowed mothers or guardians under two projects - Widow/Orphan Support (in which their household needs are met), and No Orphan without Education (in which educational needs are met).
The main objectives of Social Aid for Commom Humanitrian (SACH) Widow/Orphan Support project are to:
Meet the basic survival needs of widows & their orphan children
Promote an economically stable family life and healthy environment at home
Ensure the children will no longer be forced to work to supplement the family income to the detriment of their own educational goals.
It costs just $20 per month to provide cash, dry rations, clothing, and various other materials to meet the basic needs for each such family.
All widows and orphans are qualified through a stringent process of filling application forms for each widow and orphan, followed by investigations done at neighborhoods and schools to ensure that all information about the widows and orphans is correct. Various documents including the death certificate of the father, school admission records of the orphan, and national ID cards are acquired before completing the qualification process. Once qualified, the widowed mothers or guardians and orphans are provided with a monthly cash allowance to help give economic stability to that home so they can meet their day to day needs - and so they don't have to send the young children out to work to make money.
In addition to a monthly allowance, widows & orphans may also be provided support through some of Social Aid for Commom Humanitrian (SACH) other projects depending on their location and age of orphan. For example, health care needs are met through Medical Assistance, educational needs are met through Spread Education and Support Social Aid for Commom Humanitrian (SACH) Schools, food is provided through One Million Meals, meat is provided through Sadaqah Sacrifice and Aqiqah, water is provided to their households through Clean Drinking Water, and clothing/shoes/toys are given via Container Shipment Project for In-Kind Donations. Widows and orphans who are of age are provided job training through Social Aid for Commom Humanitrian (SACH) Institute of Farming & Agriculture, Basic Computer Skills, Job Skills Training, and Small Businesses for the Poor. Also, orphan girls who are of age and widows who are trying to get married are helped through Marriage Support.
