subject: Environmentally-friendly Insulation [print this page]

There are a lot of insulation products that can be used to ensure the warmth of your house during the winter, and to keep it cool during the summer. However, not all insulation is environmentally friendly. If you install eco-friendly insulation instead of a product made of synthetic materials, you will be doing your part to help protect the earth.

Green insulation is all the rage with today's environmentally conscious homeowners. Eco-friendly insulation can be installed in both old and new houses to help homeowners save money and the environment. Green insulation is made with recycled materials that are safe for the environment. These products are just as efficient as synthetic insulation, and can really help to lower energy bills.

Green installation materials are a little more expensive than their synthetic counterparts, but it is definitely worth the investment. There are a lot of environmentally-friendly insulation products available, including:

1. Soy insulation is made with soybean oil and is a relatively new form of insulation. When sprayed into areas where energy loss is occurring, the soy insulation expands to fill in the cracks and chinks, and hardens afterward.

2. Recycled paper, such as that used in cardboard and newspaper, can be used to make cellulose fiber insulation. This insulation is applied as sheets or as a spray, and works to prevent energy loss, slow the spread of fire, and dampen noise.

3. Wool insulation is a bit pricey compared to some of the other green insulation on the market, but it does offer the best protection against the elements. Wool keeps heat, cold and moisture out of your home, making it popular in rainy regions.

4. Used denim and cotton can be used in insulation, as well. Denim insulation is fire-resistant, vermin-resistant, soundproof, and safe for even the most allergy-prone homeowners.

No matter which type of green insulation your choose, you can rest easily knowing that your home will be energy efficient and earth-friendly. Green insulation is made to stop heat transfer in the home, and will remain consistent even in extreme temperatures. Installing environmentally-friendly insulation helps to keep moisture out of the home, reduce noise, and preserve the earth's natural resources. You simply can't go wrong when you go green.
