Write a Note: A personalized thank-you note is almost always a great approach to show gratitude. Saying it through an email or an e-card is considerably common and too simple because it requires little or sometimes no effort, at all. But the time it takes to make or buy a card, or perhaps even just write a little something on a lined piece of paper, shows that you truly do care.

Giving Food: Savory or sweet, made from scratch or store-bought, food is always a good way to say thanks for all seasons. Whether you're making dinner or buying a dessert tray, find out exactly what the person you're thanking likes and use that knowledge to show your appreciation. Beware of allergies though, while the motion is still "sweet," it will be really awkward if you prepare peanut butter cookies for someone who is allergic to peanuts.

Time: The reward of your time has always been one of my leading choices because it's something that is offered from the heart. No picking out the right size, no what flavor does she like and no wondering what everyone else will be doing. Just plain old time to give, by maybe helping out with some household chores or simply just listening to somebody who needs to talk.

Say it in Person: Hearing someone's voice can be very effective, so please before you send that email/text or make that call, DO N'T! Showing that you're generating an effort to thank them will mean greater than a computer-generated message or a quick phone call or text. Above all, this method confirms that you put in a lot of thought into wanting to demonstrate how thankful you are to them.

Donate to or for a Charity: In other words, not only do charities need your money offerings but they need your two hands for helping. This is thanking in a global way, because it's not about where you are helping out or who, but the fact that you are doing it, is thanks enough.
