Basically the celebration of Bar Mitzvah is a festival which marks the embarking of an individual to youth. It is usually celebrated when the child enters the pre youth and adolescence in their early teens. Till this time the child is totally dependent on the parents and they take the complete responsibility of the activities but this event is a way of declaring that now the person is responsible enough to take their own decisions and make the most of the resources provided to them.
In the early days they used to have a Sabbath and certain other rituals which were followed by a supper and the worst part was that the ladies were not included in this event. Well, gone are those days as now ladies also take part and it has become more like a bash in the society. There are parties which celebrate this event and like the usual crowd, it is not a party of rituals but a casual event for all the close friends and the other members of the Jewish society to attend. The event of girls is known as Bat Mitzvah.
