subject: How To Choose Different Wig [print this page] Without human hair wigs or synthetic wigs , we still could make unique wig , if you apply other material.
Base and foundations
Many materials that you may choose to use in a wig will need to have a stronger-than-usual base or foundation to support them. For lighter materials, you can use a typical wig foundation like those discussed in chapter6, but there are a couple of other techniques you can use to build a stronger base.
One of the bases that is commonly used is the buckram/felt base. To create this base, you will need a felt hood and buckram(both available from hat-making /millinery supply companies)
1. Take a plastic wrap tracing of the person you are creating the wig for block to the exact shape of the person's head.
2. Use an industrial steamer to thoroughly saturate your felt hood with steam. You will see tiny droplets of condensation form on the outside of your felt hood. Make sure to steam all areas of the hood-this will make the hood become soft and pliable. Be careful when handling the hood-the steam makes the felt hood very hot!
3. Have some push pins and elastic handy. Once the hood is fully steamed, Remove it from the steamer. Pull the felt hood over the head block. Make sure you pull and tug on the felt hood until it is completely flat on top, with no bubbles, puckers, or creases, The felt hood should be snug against the top of the head block-no air should be trapped underneath. You will need to put a lot of your body weight into this -make sure the head block is on a secure wig clamp. Tie the elastic around the bottom of the felt. Use the elastic to flatten the shape. Use the push pins pinned into the elastic to secure the felt around the bottom of the head block. Start by placing one at the bottom of the center front of the head. The second thumbtack you should place at the center back of the head. Continue working from side to side until you have pinned a flat shape onto the head block.
4. Cut a square of buckram larger than you think you will need,Before it is wet, buckram is a very stiff fabric, almost like cardboard. Once it is wet, it becomes a very soft , gluey material.
