subject: Product Review: Revo America Professional 16ch Dvr [print this page] I actually own a small home based business but have started hiring a few employees, with that in mind, I decided it was time to take my security into my own hands.
The Revo America Professional caught my eye because it looked like it offered a lot of the same functions as more expensive professional models, without costing the same price as those professional security systems. Since it was labeled professional as well, I figured it was geared towards either/or use, meaning it should suit my needs perfectly.
8 Super High 600 TVL Resolution Bullet Cameras w Audio
3X 600 TVL 80' Night Vision Dome Cameras w Audio
12 Channels Record
8x 60' of Cable
My first impressions out of the box, it really looked intimidating. A lot of parts, a lot of cables and Ive never been hugely awesome at putting together complicated software. After weighing as to whether or not I should just call someone to put it together for me, I decided to give it a go. A lot simpler than I had thought; all I had to do was put the cameras in place, plug them in to the monitor and it was ready to go. I put three of the cameras outside, one at the front/back door and one at a large window in my kitchen. These were the outdoor dome cameras that promised night vision.
The Results
After plugging my system in, downloading the mobile app for my Android, I decided to test the system out. It worked fairly well and showed very clear video on both mobile and monitor. The audio was clear as well and I feel that should anything happen, I should be able to easily identify the perpetrators through the security.
But I still wasnt satisfied. My purchase had promised night vision, so I wanted to test that too. I asked one of my friends to come and skulk around my house, see if he noticed anything new and then checked it out on the cameras. I was able to follow him clearly outside, despite the lack of lights and then track him indoors when he came inside uninvited.
Overall, I would say the Revo America Professional 16 channel system really is a great product. Its worth the money if you have something to protect and it works very well. Ive tested it out a few other times and even though its rained a few times, I havent seen any decrease in the quality of the video or audio.
What would I change about this system? I was actually thinking about purchasing wireless cameras ahead of time but decided not to. I would like to suggest that if you have problems with placing cords, you definitely do want to go with the wireless version. Other than that, I really would recommend the Revo America Professional 16 Channel home security system to anyone.
