subject: Conference Rooms In The Eastern Cape, South Africa [print this page]

East London, Eastern Cape Province (originally known as Port Rex) is the medium sized, pleasant and rather windy city in the centre of the Eastern Cape; the town which has formed about the only river port in South Africa and boasts the most magnificent coast-lines on the East Coast. Located amongst the Buffalo and Nahoon Rivers the place enjoys a sub-tropical environment with most of its rainfall in spring and autumn.

East London is the second largest commercial centre in the province. The motor industry being the dominant employer.

Central

East London has wonderful transport links with the rest of South Africa. The N2 motorway connecting Cape Town and Durban bypasses the city, while the N6 road joins East London with Bloemfontein. The newly re-built East London Airport, a mere 10 klm from the city center, has daily flights to all important South African cities.

Small enough to be pleasant and hospitable, large enough to offer all the mod-cons of a city, East London is fairly proud to have among the greatest seminar venues in the Cape Province.

The ELICC (East London International Convention Centre) is an enormous draw card to East London, for international and national conferences and seminars. This venture, though initially believed to be a brave one, has already proved that it is worthy of much that Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban are.

Something to crow about

THE SASOP was so impressed with facilities, standards and service that they awarded the venue with SASOPs Certificate of Service Excellence! Well done East London!

In another development, the ELICC will also host the biggest conference of medical doctors in South Africa when 1500 cardiologists attend the SA Heart Association congress next year, including 15 international speakers from various countries and representatives of 45 pharmaceutical companies.

ELICC

East London is a central destination and far from it being merely a holiday destination or an industrial city, its face has changed and it is proud to present one of the most up-to-date convention centres nationally which also incorporates the 261 roomed, up-market Premier Hotel Cascades, with panoramic views of the coastline, with VIP Lounges, a Business Centre, a rim-flow pool and a state of the art Wellness Spa Centre, presenting conference delegates with on-site accommodation at a top class hotel. Other nearby accommodation includes the adjacent Premier Hotel East London offering another 175 room luxury rooms.
