The first thing you have to do is get your walls ready for painting. Once youre rid of the old painting, give your walls a good sanding and dusting. After this, make sure you prime your walls, as the paint will stick to your walls for a longer time this way. Once this is done, youll have to get to painting so make sure that you cover any area you dont want to paint, like mouldings and so on.
Paint your wall the colour you want, but it would be better if youre sticking to a lighter shade. This is because the final effect looks better when you have a colour scheme of a darker shade on a lighter background. But you could invert it as well. The colour combinations are up to your own wishes but just make sure that the colours you pick are the same shade in varying intensities. Once you give your wall colour a base coat preferably in a light colour you can then move on to giving it a top coat. Allow enough time between coats so that you dont have to deal with wall problems arising out of wet paint. Once both your coats are dry, you then move on to giving your walls a finish. You need to make sure that you get the glaze mixture right. Generally, adding one part paint to five parts of glaze should do the trick. But depending on your own preferences, you could add or decrease the amount.
Once youve got the glaze mixture ready, paint it on the walls. But remember that your glaze should be oil based if youre using oil based paints and latex based if youre using latex based paints. When the glaze is still wet on the walls, apply a large length of plastic on the wall. Crinkle the plastic on the walls, but make sure that you dont trap any air bubbles within. You could peel a bit of the plastic to see whether you like the pattern, or if you need to crinkle some more. Once youre done, remove the plastic. Once the glaze dries, your new home painting is ready to be showed off!
