In December 2010, Hero Honda decided to end the joint venture between the Hero Group and Honda Motors. Under the new agreement, Honda sold its 26 per cent stake to the Hero Group. The company entered into a license agreement in which Honda gave HML the license to manufacture and export certain products and parts, for which Hero would pay an amount of Rs 2,479 crore as fee over the years.

The Hero Maestro, one of the most popular two wheeler these days, includes a well thought-out front apron and vast side panels. Hero bikes headlamp works very well in the market of two-wheeler and adding some more stylish features like dual tone rear-view mirrors is an advantage, which works well but are unwieldy to adjust. As we can see that modern touch on latest Hero products is an LCD-equipped multi-pod instruments bay, with an analogue speedometer that highlights what is exactly economy riding zone between 30kmph to 50kmph. The Hero Maestroalso having the trip meter along with the standard meter which shows the whole distance we cover.

The Maestro smoothly pulls from rest with a vibe-free power delivery and hits 60kph in 10.51 seconds, and it can go on to reach a true top-speed of 87kmph.

The Hero Maestro is built using a tubular steel chassis. Its engine, a stressed member of the chassis, is supported by a single rear shock absorber. It deploys the conventional dual-linked shock absorbers as the front suspension. The riding posture is comfortable and upright with plush cushioning from a wide riding saddle that can easily accommodate the rider and a pillion. The scooters light handling is a boon in crowded Indian city riding conditions. The Maestro deploys 130mm drum brakes front and rear, deploying Hondas effective, Combined Braking System (CBS) technology.

We were able to stop the Hero Maestro from 60kph in 21.8 meters during brake testing. Despite of having so many intriguing features, the Hero Maestro price is still very much in the budget of common men which attracts the masses. Recently there was a news that Hero MotoCorp. is going to phase out Hero maestro but now it has dropped the idea as the festive season has risen the sales of the two-wheeler.
