Cross-linked polyethylene foam performance

(1)Compression performance: Compression strength of cross-linked polyethylene foam is higher than the soft polyester-based polyurethane foam, however it is lower than polystyrene foam, belong to semi-rigid foam. Cross-linked polyethylene foam has excellent performance of repeated compression resistance, permanent deformation is about 15% after 105 compressions, this shows that it is the ideal packaging material. The disadvantage of cross-linked polyethylene foam is not immediately recover when the compression force is removed, it will return to the original state after placed a week.

(2)The water vapor transmission rate: The water vapor permeability of the cross-linked polyethylene foam is far lower than polystyrene and rigid polyurethane foam.

(3)Thermal performance: The thermal conductivity of cross-linked polyethylene foam is substantially same with polystyrene and rigid polyurethane foam, as well as higher than the non-cross-linked polyethylene foam. Its maximum use temperature is 80 C, over this temperature will gradually shrink.

(4)Absorbent: The absorbent of cross-linked polyethylene foam is lower than Styrofoam.

(5)Chemical resistance: chemical resistance of Cross-linked polyethylene foam is excellent, long-term immersed in carbon tetrachloride, aromatic hydrocarbons, gasoline, or other similar substances, without any impact and strength also unchanged.

(6)Anti-aging performance.

The performance of non-cross-linked polyethylene foam

Non-cross-linked polyethylene foams shock-absorbing properties, resistance to chemical properties and dielectric properties is excellent, water absorption and vapor transmission rate is very low, non-toxic, odorless, good secondary processing performance.

The applications of Polyethylene foam

(1)Insulation, heat insulation: it can be used as Insulation materials of refrigerated trucks, both easy to clean and soft, but also warm protection of winter flowers.

(2)Damping packaging: Packing form includes upper and lower liner style, both side liner style, surrounded liner style and match shape style. Usually greater mechanical uses foamed 10-40 times of massive foam; Camera, computer, glassware and ceramic ware etc. the majority of produce use foam 10-15 times of PE foam sheet.

(3)Floating material: non-cross-linked polyethylene foam used as life rafts, lifebuoy, life jacket, also fishnet float, kick board, surfboard, swimming competitions of buoyancy waterline and so on. In this area often use foaming 20-30 times of foam

(4)Electrical insulating material: Usually using foaming 2-3 times of foamed polyethylene as wire and cable insulation layer.

(5)Wood substitutes: Structural foam polyethylene can replace wood for chemical pipeline supports, electrolysis, electroplating factory floor and slot covers, thermostat agricultural greenhouses, freezer and bath within decorative plates, truck box board, door frames, window frames, stair railing,turnover box, tool handles.
