There are many options available for people interested in taking a cruise over Christmas. If youre after some winter sun, MyTravel offers lots of cruises to places like Hawaii, Caribbean and the Amazon River, or slightly closer to home with locations like the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

The Hawaiian Islands tour sees guests board the Golden Princess cruise boat, and the 14 night option includes five stops. Youll fly into Los Angeles, with the first stop being Hilo, followed by Nawiliwili and then Honolulu. After youve fully experienced the islands making up Hawaii, the cruiser heads to Ensenada in Mexico on the 13th night before heading back to LA.

While youre visiting the Hawaiian islands, there is so much to do. In Honolulu on Oahu lies one of the most famous beaches in the world, Waikiki Beach. The white sands and turquoise waters are perfect for relaxing and sunbathing, and the waves are perfect for avid surfers. If you dont want to spend all of your time on the beach, there are lots of historic and cultural things to do. The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and the site of the Pearl Harbor bombings are both interesting and educational spots. The Honolulu Zoo is great if youre vacationing with kids, and the Museum of Art offers some local culture.

The Caribbean Grand Adventures cruise sees the Grand Princess make seven stops in 14 nights. Kicking off in Fort Lauderdale in Florida, the first stop is San Juan in Puerto Rico. Here you can explore the capital and take in some of its historical buildings, such as La Forteleza, the oldest mansion in continuous use in the Americas and the former defensive forts of Fort San Cristbal and Fort San Felipe. After a night here, the boat heads to Philipsburg, Sint Maarten and then Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Other stops include the gorgeous island of Aruba where you can soak up the ever sunny climate before heading onto Curacao, Netherlands Antilles for a spot of scuba diving or snorkelling.

If you want to add some adventure to your Christmas, the Amazon River cruise package is the way to go! Starting out in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the cruise schedule passes through Philipsburg in Sint Maarten, Vieux Fort on Saint Lucia and Scarborough on Tobago for the bulk of the trip including Christmas Day. Scarborough is the largest town on the island, with almost one third of the islands population living here. The main attraction in the town is Fort King George, which is now a museum and overlooks the bay. There is also a botanical garden on the forts site, which features tropical trees and shrubs on its open lawns. The ship then takes you to the last stop, Manaus in Brazil.
