subject: Cleaning Services Companies Offer More Security Than Maids [print this page]

Maids can be cheaper, but at what other cost?

One of the main reasons that people tend to be persuaded to hire a maid rather than a company is the price difference. In many cases (but not all), maids can offer cheaper prices as they do not have the same overheads as a full company. Generally though, this is where the benefits of hiring a maid instead of a cleaning services company stops and even this reason can actually become a negative when examined more closely. There are other reasons that maids can offer lower prices which are not favorable for the home owner:

Training Respected cleaning companies will offer training programs for their employees to ensure that their high standards are achieved at all times. This costs time, money and effort for all concerned which is reflected in the price for the client.

Insurance and Tax An individual maid may not be insured. In order to protect themselves from costs arising from damage, injury and theft during a maids work, the client will need to pay for such insurance plans. This hidden cost can make a huge difference to the overall cost of a maid. On the other hand, most cleaning firms will ensure that all of their staff are insured without the client having to worry about a thing.

Cleaning companies mean less hassle

Taking cost out of the equation, there is the amount of hassle involved with hiring an individual maid to consider. By taking on an independent maid, the home-owner becomes the employer instead of a client. As an employer, the home owner will need to:

Pay for any background checks that are required Criminal checks and drug tests are provided by many companies but if a home-owner is to be sure of the trustworthiness of their maid, they must pay for such checks to be carried out with their own money.

Employment documents A working contract should be drawn up to protect all parties. This costs time and money.

Tax Social Security tax and other such taxes are the responsibility of the employer.

All of the above takes time to put into place and cost more money to do so. It is also extra worry for the home owner which can defeat the whole object of hiring a cleaner to help around the home in the first place.

In addition to the initial hassle which is saved by hiring a cleaning services company, there is also the advantage of the kind of accountability that comes with such companies. Being able to hold a company accountable rather than an individual person also has its benefits:

No awkwardness Many people feel uneasy about complaining about a poor job to a person. If the cleaner is part of a team or company, then their superior can be contacted without any feeling of unease for the home owner.

If a member of a cleaning services company does not turn in for work, cleaning companies can guarantee a quick replacement so that the client does not lose out. Independent maids offer no such security.

All in all, professional companies offering cleaning services can offer true peace of mind to their clients for prices that are incredibly reasonable when all factors have been taken into consideration.
