The tiny city of Taranaki is situated amid Auckland and Wellington, on the North Islands west coastline. Mount Taranaki is a leading tourist attraction and is among the most equal volcano cones worldwide. On my holiday with a hire campervan I enjoyed lots of exciting activities in this region, from energetic to relaxed ones. Enjoy surfing, scaling the mighty mountains or unwind with a glass of wine in a place with picturesque views. Enjoy your New Zealand camper van hire holiday at your own pace.

Taranaki has lots of spectacular landscaped gardens. I had a great time exploring the Garden of International Significance or Te Kainga Marire. This place has a serene camp with local flora carefully designed to exhibit the diverse foliage of New Zealand. I also visited Oakley Garden which is sited near the shoreline and owned by a family which loves horticulture. Visit Pukekura for its lovely gardens, zoo and a colonial medical centre with a superb collection of trees.

To watch the spectacle which transforms the Pukekura Park in Taranaki into a shimmering wonderland you must watch the TSB Bank Festival of Lights in the park. This event begins after Christmas and continues till the end of January. There are quite a few events in The TSB Bowl of Brooklands particularly summer concerts and you can enjoy the events in the natural open-air amphitheatre. At Stratford, the Stock Car night is a pleasurable way to see a few races from October to April. Energize yourself with a stopover at the Taranaki thermal spa and relax in the calming mineral water.

Hire a campervan and check out the natural attractions in Taranaki. Discover the pristine beaches in Taranaki such as Hawera, Fitzroy beach and Centennial drive. After a short walk through the verdant forest you will discover Dawson Falls, an eminent 18 m lofty waterfall.

For a thrilling rock climbing session Paritutu rock is a great place. Here, you can also get unrivalled views over a volcanic outgrowth. I enjoyed a day trip, a picnic and a refreshing dip in Lake Mangamahoe.

Check out the man-made attractions around Taranaki on your Campervan Rental New Zealand. Positioned in the Coastal Walkway, the Wind Wand is a shifting kinetic sculpture prepared by Len Lye which sways whenever the wind blows. Spend an interesting afternoon interacting with the locals at different events in The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. Positioned in Eltham the Mainland Cheese Bar is a wonderful place where I sampled the finest cheese in New Zealand. The Hawera water tower offers great views of the adjoining region.

Taranaki is a beautiful spot for a holiday with campervan hire NZ. It is renowned for its natural environs including the volcanic backdrop; however it offers a lot more than just a few snapshot opportunities. Stay in this region for a while and you will definitely appreciate the culinary, cultural and serene charm which makes this region of New Zealand extraordinary.
