MLM or multi-level marketing has a bad reputation with some people and it is because of the pushiness of the network marketing people surrounding the business. The jokes are on MLM businesses, with others whispering urgent messages behind the backs of the network marketer. "Quick, run and hide, or they will try to pressure you into joining their team / buying their product or serves." You do not want to be one who others run from as you approach. Knowing how to act within this business will help you to be more of a success rather than the butt of the joke.

Perhaps the reason network marketing people get a bad rap is because people view their businesses as a "pyramid scheme." The tiered compensation works to award those who work hardest (and with some companies, the longest) with great financial compensation. If you can look beyond the scheme and realize it is an awarding business structure. Awards go to the ones who put forth the most effort. You have to consider that all involved have to work, even those on top. The top people did their time of hard work, paid their dues and it is just they are there on top. It is a goal to strive for should you decide to join in the business.

If you consider the cost of a franchise, you will see that "paying the fee" to join an MLM company is a lot more reasonable. You cannot help but see the win / win situation you have with your chosen company. Successful network marketing people know they have to work hard to build their business. However, you have to realize, it is your business. You are not employed by anyone. You do not have a boss. You are your own boss. You have paid to be a part of a bigger company. Whether you are a success or not depends on how much you work it.

The network marketing opportunities gives you a chance at owning your own business. You need to find one that fits in with your lifestyle. Because your success does depend on selling to others, or enticing others to follow your example, you need to have a product or service you believe in. Without the passion for it, you will not do as well. Your lack of passion will show in your presentations. You need to use the products and services and walk the walk of your company. When you sign on to become a direct sales associate, take them up on all their training sessions. Many will offer webinars, books, seminars, training calls, and gatherings. Take advantage of these to make the most of your own opportunity. You can become as successful as the other network marketing people you know if you set your goals to learning the business and working it to your advantage.
