subject: F12 Berlinetta: Experience The New Ferrari V12 Performance [print this page]

The new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a car that provides top performance on a dry road and exactly the same on a wet surface. Of course driver has to use the Manettino settings, because when there is not too much grip the car has to become more docile, with a power output that makes sure it is safe in all road conditions. Ferrari clients driving the F12 Berlinetta has the same feeling of security on a straight at high speed: it holds the road perfectly.

A lot of work has been done to the brakes too: braking in the F12 is very powerful, you feel the benefit of the cars lightness and it is very stable and well-balanced. The driver can control how much force to use, even if she / he is in a position of having to brake hard to go into a tight bend. It is the same if you have to come to a halt: the car is not bothered, it stays on its four wheels and you can feel that it is going to stop.

Overall the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a great fun to drive, on a track as well as on road, such as the hilly lanes around Maranello. The streets used by the Factory test drivers are narrow and winding, and they can feel how the car takes bends perfectly, absorbs bumps quietly and has the agility of an eight-cylinder mid-engine car. All of this with 740 hp! We are convinced that there is no other car that can truly compare with a F1 car in the way the F12 Berlinetta does.

The perfect relationship and collaboration between the Ferrari Design team and Pininfarina under the guidance of Flavio Manzoni brought exciting results with the new F12 Berlinetta. The F12 Berlinetta appears more compact than the models that preceding it. The F12 marked the very first time that the Ferrari Design Team has worked on in collaboration with Pininfarina to the creation of a new model from the very beginning. For this car President Luca di Montezemolo was requesting to create a clear brake with the past styling choices and take to the limit the collaboration with the Factory aerodynamic specialists. The collaboration allowed the Design department to introduce channels between the bonnet and the side of the car and to look more into the brake hatches that open only when the temperature exceeds certain levels.

In the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta contemporary aesthetics are balanced with the Prancing Horse tradition.
