Delhi has numerous monuments, archaeological structures and shrines to attract the travellers. Among the major tourist attractions in the national capital include old monuments like Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Purana Qila and Jama Masjid. Red Fort, constructed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, is an important heritage site in Delhi. Red Fort has Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Aam, Lahore Gate, Mumtaz Mahal and Hayat Bakhsh Bagh.

Among the major tourist destinations in Delhi include India Gate, Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Raj Ghat, Birla Mandir, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Rajpath, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple, ISKCON Temple, Jantar Mantar, National Museum, International Dolls Museum, National Zoological Park, National Railway Museum, Teen Murti Bhavan, Lodhi Garden and Safdarjun's Tomb.

The distance from Delhi to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh is nearly 30 km. Located on the banks of the Hindon River, Ghaziabad was founded by emperor Ghazi-ud-din in 1704. Ghaziabad was known by the name of Ghaziuddinnagar in those days. Ghazi-ud-din built a palace for himself. Only a gate, a few portions of the boundary wall and a 14-feet-high massive pillar of this monument remain now.

Ghaziabad played a major role in India's struggle for independence. It was one of the major venues of the First War of Independence of 1857. The proximity of Ghaziabad to Delhi has been a great advantage for the development of the region as an industrial area. This sleepy town has now changed into a modern suburb of Delhi.

Among the major attractions in Ghaziabad are Thakurdwara Temple in Ajrara (constructed by yogi Ajaipal), Raja Karan-ka-Khera near Mustafabad (believed to have been established by the Mahabharata character Karna), Shiva temple, remains of a fort constructed by King Prithviraj Chauhan in Loni and the ancient shrines like Chandi Mandir, Sabli Shiva Mandir, Dudheshwar Nath Mandir and Jama Masjid dating back to the 17th century.

Ghaziabad has no airport. Besides, there is no question of travelling by air from Delhi to Ghaziabad since the distance between from the two places is only around 30 km. The best way to get to Ghaziabad is by rail and road. Trains are available from both Delhi and New Delhi Railway Stations. There is a train virtually in every half an hour. The rail journey from Delhi to Ghaziabad takes less than half an hour.

Travel by road is also convenient. Regular bus services by state-run Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and private operators are available to Ghaziabad from Shivaji Terminus and near the old Delhi Railway Station besides from some other places. Ordinary buses charge a fare below Rs.30. Taxi cars are available from Delhi to Ghaziabad. The taxi fare comes to around Rs.550. Both buses and taxis take about 90 minutes for the journey from Delhi to Ghaziabad.
