There are certain items like lukewarm water, mild detergent, towels, basin which are needed while washing the houndstooth fabric. Below are steps which need to be taken into consideration while washing it:
First of all fill the tub or bucket with the warm water and mix the wool safe detergent in it. While putting the detergent in the water, check with the bottle of detergent to find out the exact amount to use.
Put down the houndstooth fabric on the surface of the water. The fabric will float on the water so you have to push it down in order to submerge into it. When the fabric will submerge the water will move into the houndstooth holes. Smoothly push the fabric up and down so that it can be washed properly.
Now take out the fabric and squeeze it so that excess of water drains out. Try not to wring the fabric harshly. Again repeat the step number 2 by placing the Houndstooth Fabric in water. After you feel fabric is clean you can pull it out, squeeze and kept it on the side.
The water should be drained out in the basin. New lukewarm water should be filled into the bucket so that you can rinse the fabric again. Don't include the detergent again.
To remove the extra detergent from the fabrics rinse it again and again in the new water. Squeeze out the extra water from it.
After that put the fabric on the towel and roll it. Now take out the fabric from the towel and put it on the other dry towel. Let it in this position for at least 2 hours so that it can dry completely.
