subject: 2013 Giant Anthem X 29er 0 [print this page] Giants Anthem platform has long been the weapon of choice for cross country mountain bike riders. Since its inception it has been through many evolutions until it has become the bike that you see in front of you now. Every year the bike has shed weight, every year it has gained stiffness and responsiveness, and ever since the beginning the suspension and ride quality has been tweaked. It was Giants guinea pig for their very first dual suspension 29er and what they created was the ultimate race worthy cross country mountain bike and at the same time giving 29er mountain bikes a real driving force. For those who were brave enough to make the purchase their riders were rewarded with more control, shorter lap times and more podium finishes than ever before.
The 2013 Giant Anthem X 29er 0 is the best aluminium cross country 29er on offer in the product range. Giant have been masters of aluminium construction for many years, and in 2013 this skill and thought is imbued into every line of the bike; from the unique tapered head tube, mega down tube, and oversized bottom bracket. The Anthem X 29er 0 gets Giants top of the range aluminium treatment; their custom 6000 series aluminium dubbed ALUXX SL.
A Rock Shox suspension package is on offer with the Anthem X 29er 0. The Rock Shox SID 29 RL spear heads the package which features all the tuning options necessary to any trail; lockout, positive/negative air pressure adjustments, and rebound. Like all Rock Shox products its very user friendly with sag gradients imprinted on the stanchion tubes and air pressure guide sticker on the fork legs. The rear shock is the Monarch RT which features similar adjustments. Our store also offers professional in-house after sales servicing of all suspension systems to make sure your new ride is performing at its peak.
Drive train and brakes are a combination of SRAM X0/X9, SRAMs second and third best components. SRAM X9 shifters control the X0 rear derailleur and X9 rear derailleur. SRAM X0 carbon cranks finish off the package. First ride impressions on the carbon cranks are surprising. As soon as you take that first pedal stroke the bike just projects you forward, there is no give then projection. The power transfer is exceptionally good, and compliments the overall feel of the bike.
Giant Wheel Systems were first seen in 2012. Giants range of 29er wheels have always been durable and great entry point 29er wheels. However, they did lack finesse and modern technology that we see in high end wheels today. The Anthem X 29er 0 is kitted with Giants new PXCR 1 wheel system and is designed as their performance cross country aluminium race wheel. It features the technology that we see today on many high end wheels; straight pull spoke lacing for increased stiffness, revised hub and rim design.
