subject: Fantasy Sports Is The Ultimate Fan Experience [print this page]

One of the biggest disappointments for sports fans is the end of their favorite team's season. This happens every fall for thousands of fans as baseball teams are eliminated from the playoffs and football teams get off to upsettingly poor starts for the season. If you are one of those fans out there that feels you have lost your reason to watch your favorite sport, do not despair. Instead, discover the fun and thrills of fantasy sports. By playing fantasy sports, your favorite sport season can extend even after your favorite team has been eliminated. Instead of just tracking your favorite team, you will learn more about your favorite players that are on your fantasy teams.

The classic fantasy sports game is a season-long activity. You spend months preparing for the draft. You spend that time looking up websites and reading articles, because you know that your competition is doing the same exact thing. Before the draft day arrives, it's up to you to create that list of players and rank them to prepare for your draft. Once you have created your list, the thrill of the draft itself begins. You then spend the rest of the year monitoring the success and failures of your players as you try to make trades and pick up free agents to improve your team's position in the standings.

For some, that is just way too much work and too long to wait for the reward of finding out where you finish in the league. That is why there are shorter seasons such as week-long and even daily fantasy sports competitions. You don't have to wait for months to find out if your team will manage to protect their first place position. These short leagues are even better for those of you that struggle in the draft and end up with a team that starts slowly. You are only stuck with your team for a day or a week, and then you can join another league and draft an entirely new team. You can even play a large number of these shorter leagues at the same time.

For those of you that want something in between the weekly and season-long leagues, your wish is answered. There are monthly fantasy sports leagues. Once again, there is no need to limit yourself to just one league, either. The more that you play, the greater your chances are that once will be in contention for that ever-elusive first place finish.

Fantasy sports can be very addictive. Many players are involved in dozens of short season leagues at a single time. They love spending afternoons and evenings rooting not only for their hometown teams, but the players that they "own". Fantasy sports are so addictive, that some restaurants will offer them for even shorter periods of time, such as three or four hour leagues. Depending on how well your team performs you might win free food or drinks at the restaurant. In the end, don't give up if your favorite team is struggling, form your own fantasy sports team and keep your hopes alive for the season.
