subject: Simple Tips To Maintain Your Coffee Table And Accents [print this page]

Coffee tables and accents are a great way to spruce your interiors. But if they are not given proper care, they may look old and worn out in just a few years. So, you have to clean them at regular intervals.

When you clean side tables, rub them with a rough cloth or a scrubber to remove the dirt hidden in tiny crevices. Ensure you remove the dirt from the tiny holes in the woodwork. Fill those holes with slightly melted colored wax and press it, so that the wax evenly covers the hole. Clean your side table sets preferably with oil-based cleaners rather than alcohol-based ones. Apply the cleaner on the table and buff it with a cloth rag, dont wash it off.

After you have cleaned the coffee tables and accents , apply pure oil on them. Teak oil can be used to protect occasional tables made from this wood. There are several lemon based oils also that you can use to protect your accent tables. Let the oil soak into the wood for 15 minutes and once it is completely soaked, polish the furniture with a soft cloth and you can see that the table is shining like before.

If you have cats at home, they probably scratch and spoil your wooden furniture. To protect your coffee tables from scratches, wrap the base or legs of the furniture with plastic foil, aluminum foil, or double sided tape. You can also rub orange peel or bitter apple on the table legs to keep your cats from scratching them.

Got kids at home? Crayon strains are the notes they leave for you on the walls and your wooden coffee tables and accents. So, how do we remove them? First dust the stained area. Wipe it with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dirt. Then make a paste using starch and water and apply it on the crayon stain. Wipe off the paste along with the crayon stains.

These days, glass-topped accent tables are preferred in most houses. There are many ways to clean them, but the simplest way is by using warm soapy water and a clean cloth. You can also use vinegar or a glass cleaner to clean these kinds of tables. In case, you are using vinegar, then mix it with an equal proportion of water and spray it on the table. Wipe it off with newspaper to get a clean sparkling finish.
