subject: The Never Ending Scent Of Perfume Shops On The High Street [print this page] In the run up to New Years eve 1999 hysteria was sweeping the world as the entire of the first world population held their breath to see whether or not the infrastructure of all its nations would come to a standstill before their very eyes. Y2K brought genuine fear to the hearts of many people as media hype went a long way to convincing its consumers that the dawning of the new millennium may not mean the start of a new era but the end of the world as we know.
It was predicted that all computer systems would fail leaving us to ponder how our lives had become so dependent on the influence of machines. As it happened the entire thing was just a massive media hoo-ha and absolutely nothing happened. That was the last time any of us had a bad word to say about the digitalisation of the world. In fact since then our bond with computers and in particular the internet has become stronger and stronger.
At first computers were useful in offices, for administrative work but were not generally seen in the home. Slowly but surely they worked their way into a large number of homes as a means of typing documents instead of a typewriter and children began to use them for video games, but it wasnt until the invention and globalisation of the internet that computers really took over everybodys life individually.
The internet means we can find out anything, talk to anyone, watch anything, listen to anything and most recently buy anything. If you know where to look you can buy pretty much anything that you could ever think of, you can even watch videos of people using any product that you may be interested in. better still you can buy anything that you may have seen being used in a video you may have seen online.
It seems inevitable that it is only a matter of a few years before more money is spent online in this country than is being spent in store. More and more of us are doing our weekly grocery shopping online and it is already common place for clothes to be bought from online stores. The only shops that can relax a little are perfume stores thanks to the fact that smellovision has not been invented yet, and most people like to have a try before they buy. However, if you put your faith in online reviews there are many online perfume shops that may just offer a better deal.
