subject: Dynamic Events In Guild Wars 2 [print this page]

Even if you love MMOs, you may sometimes find that you are a little bored with the quest system. The quest system involves a player being given a task, the completion of which grants some sort of reward. The task does not impact the world and everyone more or less takes the same quests. Although they can give some cool rewards, quests are usually repetitive and can get pretty tiresome! This is where the dynamic events of Guild Wars 2 come into play.

Quests may reward you with Guild Wars 2 gold; dynamic events do, too, but compared to quests, dynamic events are a world apart. These events are triggered by your actions, such as venturing into a certain area or chatting with a nearby non-player character. Unlike quests, dynamic events evolve and have repercussions on the game world you inhabit.

The dynamic event is scalable. The more people around, the more impressive and wide-ranging the event will be. For example, imagine triggering an event when you talk to a non-player character. Suddenly, monsters come out and the point of the event is to protect that non-player character. If you are the only person in the area, the number of monsters that you will have to kill will be comparatively low. On the other hand, if there are many people around, the number of monsters will be higher, and the monsters may have more abilities. At the end, each participant will receive a reward in the form of experience, magical prizes or GW2 gold.

Anyone in the vicinity can participate in dynamic events, and unlike static quests, where people do the exact same thing over and over again, your decisions have effects in the world. For example, if the point of the quest is to prevent a race of monsters from building a fort in an area, the result can go one of two ways. If the participants in the dynamic event defeat the monsters, the area is left clear. On the other hand, if the monsters defeat the players, there is now an enemy fort in what was previously a friendly area.

Not only do dynamic events have real consequences in the world of the game, they"ll bring you into contact with other players you might not have mingled with in the first place. Dynamic events are a fantastic way to meet people in an organic way, and if you are invested in in-game immersion, this is a good way to move forward.

Guild Wars 2 gold is usually part of the reward for a successful dynamic event. When you are roaming the world and trying to gather GuildWars 2 gold, you"ll find that dynamic events are a great way to bulk up your treasury.
