subject: Police Lights Fit In Pretty Much Everywhere [print this page]

Police lights are indispensable for police to see others as well as to show themselves to others. Wherever a policeman goes, whether in a car, or a bike, or a boat, or on foot, he is sure to carry a flashlight without which he might become more or less dysfunctional. A handheld police light could be as small as a finger or as large as an arm. The intensity and range of LED light bulbs, which are used today in most police lights, can be raised or lowered substantially to suit different requirements. As a result, by the flick of a finger a policeman can turn his flashlight to produce the effect of a spot light, or a reading light, or a flood light.

And a police light may even do a job unrelated to lighting. Larger police lights may be used as a weapon of defense or offense under the duress of a situation. With all the jobs that these lights do, having them on their person is very important for the police. Policemen meticulously carry these lights wherever they go and some keep extra batteries and bulbs depending on the gravity of the operation that they are involved in. During examinations and investigations lights will have to be handheld but otherwise policemen keep it variously inside their duty belt, holster, or in the pocket of the uniform.

One job of a police light is focusing rightly on the victim before shooting, to avoid aiming at a wrong target. So, many lights nowadays come designed to be attached to the gun itself, so that the user's hands remain free for holding the rifle. Some models are also attachable to different parts of the clothing. Larger police lights that have the power to double as an assault weapon may be carried in the backpack or strapped to the body.

Police tactical pants, or shorts, have variously sized pockets that can hold within it big or small lights. Tactical boots too have pouches that can accommodate a small police light. Since manufacturers are coming out with smaller and smaller flashlights, hiding them somewhere in the body is not difficult. Some police lights have built in digital cameras, and after use it may be hidden carefully by policemen inside their underclothing so that the recorded data is not lost.

Some policemen hang their flashlights around the neck. This is an extremely ingenious way of keeping a police light, especially when that light has within it audio or video recording facilities. Firstly, this leaves the user's hands free for other jobs. Further, he can imperceptibly record the happenings around by just brushing his hands on these feather touch lights without the suspect suspecting that he is being recorded. A police light worn on a belt, or strapped to a sleeve, or to other parts of a uniform, can also be manipulated discreetly in this way to exploit its design potentials to the maximum.
