As a parent of a child with special needs, stress management plays a large role in your life or at least it should.

You wake up one day and find yourself always on the move, struggling with your workload and demands from multiple sources seem to bombard from every direction.

You live in fear that some day, quite soon everything will come crumbling down around you. I know because I have been there and felt exhausted, overwhelmed and frustrated. Looking back I simply was not coping very well.

To all appearances everything appeared to be going well but inside I felt I was about to explode. Now I now understand the impact all this had on my life and how it affected those around me I most love. If you have experienced this read on to find out where the real issue lies!

You see when it comes to stress management we all want a "fix" to get us out of a rut. We want to solve a problem through taking action and doing something tangiable about the problem.

Of course this is an essential part of stress management but it is also just one part of the solution. You see, the really important part that so many parents of special needs children miss out on when it comes to managing stress is that instead of first trying to take an outward action to resolve an issue, first you need to partner with the real you on the inside which in reality is just your inner guidance system and the part of you where all solutions and answers comes from.

When you do this, and make this connection with your inner guidance system, you will take inspired actions and become empowered so that any steps you need to take will be in your best interest and be for the highest good of all concerned.

It is easy to make changes when you first address what is going on at the inner level that is consequently giving rise to the experiences you are encountering and this includes the experiences you want to change!

It begins with inviting your inner guidance system into every part of your parenting so that all your thoughts ,feeling and actions will come from an inspired place and will enhance your life and will be for the higher good of those whose lives you touch.

When you do this, you will be able to handle whatever challenges life throws at you in all areas of your life and not just your role as a parent.

All those negative feelings, you can learn to control through a series of simple steps that will transform you life both internally and externally and enrich the lives of those around you.

Just like any new habit, it will take time and practice but what is the alternative? A life of misery, worry, depression, stress?

When you have a special needs child, simplifying things and bringing in harmony into your life is a goal we all share and aspire to have. When you become an empowered parent in stress management, a whole series of wonderful opportunities present themselves with endless positive possibilities for you and your family.
