subject: So He Cheated On You - What Are You Going To Do About It? [print this page]

Of all of the things that you would have expected from your boyfriend, the last thing that you thought would happen would be that he would cheat on you. While it may have come as a shock, now that you know the truth, what are you going to do about it? A lot of people will tell you exactly what you should do, from their perspective, but that is not my intention here. That is really only something that you can conclude, but I will give you some things that you may want to think about before you make your final decision of what to do.

Here are some of those things that I would think about:

1) Are you going to be surprised if you find out that he has done it again?

This is something that I think you really should consider if you are leaning towards forgiving him. While that may seem like the answer, especially if he is being very apologetic right now, you do have to wonder about his sincerity and the possibility that he might just do it again at a later time. You really wouldn't be too shocked if you forgave him and then found out that he just happened to slip up again, would you?

2) Are you going to wonder about the "what ifs" if you kick him to the curb?

Some women would automatically say that they need to just kick the guy to the curb and move on with their life if they find out that they were cheated on. I really can't say that I don't see where they are coming from. However, if you are leaning towards that as being what you want to do, you do have to think about the what if question that will probably pop up in your mind from time to time. Will you be able to handle wondering, what if he was really sorry and would have never done it again?

3) Are you willing to hear his side of the story?

This is a question that you need to ponder no matter what you decide. No matter what, it might be a little bit helpful to hear his side of the story. That doesn't mean that you should accept what he says at face value. Having a little bit of doubt about his honesty would be natural if you have just found out that he cheated. However, if you are going to try to work out things with him, then you do need to know some things about why it happened or even how it happened. And that can still be useful if you do want to dump him, if even only for the fact that you will have a better idea of what to watch out for just in case you ever deal with this situation again.
