subject: Path: Launches New Crowd Funding Site To Support Filipino Projects [print this page] October 16, 2012 - Crowd funding has started to revolutionize how projects get out to the market sooner than later. PhilAmTHrophy.com (PATH) recently launched their website to reach out to like minded individuals who want to invest in the creation of Filipino projects.
There are two sides to crowd funding. The project creator who possesses the talent and ability to bring a project to life and the crowd of supporters who believes in the project and wants to see it made.
This crowd funding also calls for the attention of approximately 10 million Filipinos working overseas. According to the Central Bank of the Philippines, there was about $20 billion in remittances sent in 2011. By pooling a few dollars together, we can help create more Filipino made projects.
We witnessed the outpouring of support from Filipino communities around the globe when a tragedy like typhoon Ondoy hit the Philippines in 2009. PATH has seen that there were no platforms in place that allowed Filipinos to reach out to each other on a regular basis. A platform that can also be used in the long run, not just to reach out during tragedies but to help cultivate Filipino products and inventions. PATH hopes the site will provide a venue for fund raising innovative ideas, with donations that can go as low as a few dollars. With PayPal as the main payment gateway, funding a project is made easier.
Aside from receiving rewards or tokens of appreciation from the project creators, PATH also gives raffle prizes to supporters by allowing them to earn PATH points. For every $1 you donate to any of their project that is successful will earn you one point. These points you earned automatically makes you eligible to win raffle prizes from Philippine companies. The main goal of these raffle promotion is to introduce Philippine products and services to the world.
PATH announces its soft launch by starting with two crowd funding projects. The first project falls under the theater category titled ONE Musicals Backer Audition . This musical is made with a goal to rekindle hope and bring healing to the devastating effects of human trafficking. American composer, Walter Robinson calls the Philippines his second home. Robinson wrote ONE and has developed it in collaboration with ONE director, veteran theater and movie actor, Miguel Faustmann. David Scott, choreographer of the movie Stomp the Yard will be in charge of the dance sequence. ONE will premier in Manila in 2013 with an all Filipino cast. The Backers Audition will allow the group to present excerpts of the show to potential corporate sponsors.
Another project that PATH is pleased to showcase is Delite Herbal Teas introduction to the North American market. This product is from the makers of Ampalaya Plus, Nattural Quality Corporation. The company has 10 years of experience in the Philippine market, providing Filipinos effective natural alternatives to help prevent diabetes and hypertension. The company will give samples of their best and proven successful products such as Ampalaya Plus, Slenda, Enduranz, and Renalin as rewards to their supporters.
PATH's goal is to pursue quality projects and in order to do this PATH is honored to have on board ambassadors such as Carlos Ygoa, Kara Magsanoc Alikapala, Roselle Monteverde, Kenneth Cobonpue, and Giga product's Joy de Villa who are selflessly sharing their time and skills. These ambassadors will occasionally help review submitted projects in their line of expertise.
