The education policy of the government in the post independence era has been to provide free and
compulsory education to all children at least up to the elementary stage. Recognizing the need for a
literate population and provision of elementary education as a crucial input for nation building, the
governments stand was endorsed in the national policy on education and the programmer of action,
1992, to work towards provisional of education of a satisfactory quality to all children up to 14 years of
age before the commencement of the twenty first century.
CBSE has launched many courses 9th, 10th , 11th, 12th and many more classes has started by cbse to
improve the education system. Some university offering distance education courses for student, like BBA,
BCA, MBA, MCA from Ignou University. Some various engineering exams like AIEEE, IIt encouraging the
educational system.
Under the present system of mass education by classes, too much stress is laid on teaching, and too
little on active learning. The child is not encouraged to discover things on his own. He learns, depending
on outside help, not on his own power. Thus he loses intellectual independence and creativity, and the
capacity to judge for himself. The over taught child is later on the man who makes modern democracy
the force it is.
Moreover, lessons in the class are uninteresting, keeping the child mainly unoccupied, and therefore
he gets bored. He is forced to learn what does not interest him. The information acquired mechanically
through repletion is easily forgotten. Quite naturally, the child brings bored and unoccupied is also
mischievous. A strict learns to obey, not to control himself. He loses moral as well as intellectual
independence.
We need new system of universal education. It should be of the same kind that has proved
itself so successful in training of the handicapped. We need to change our education system.
