subject: Emma Watson hates Herself In Upcoming Film [print this page]

Moving on from her Harry Potter days, Emma Watson is busy as ever with three new films in the works. The twenty-two year old, however, shared with the press last week her hatred for her role as Nicki, a tattoo-clad, pink tracksuit and Ugg-boots wearing yoga instructor based on Alexis Niers, a member of the infamous Bling Ring gang.

Between October 2008 and August 2009, a group of affluent California teens, dubbed as the Bling Ring, defied security systems, stalked and ransacked a series of celebrity homes in the Hollywood Hills. They are said to be the most outrageous and successful burglary gang in recent Hollywood history with over $3 million worth of cash and belongings stolen from celebrities like Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson, Audrina Patridge and Lindsay Lohan; as well as couples Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, and Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox.

The team used Google Maps to locate their houses and followed TMZ, Facebook and Twitter updates for the stars whereabouts. They simply checked for unlocked doors to enter and used their hoods to cover their faces from home security cameras. The first evidence of their heist was some footage from Patridges CCTV, which unfortunately had a grainy reception. None of them was identified. It was during the Lohan operation in 2009 that cops finally got a break a clear footage of one the groups leaders, Nick Prugo, at the scene.

As a result of their burglaries, all the victimized celebrities beefed up their home security systems. The members of the gang received varying penalties; Prugo being the last sentenced just March of this year.

Directed by Sofia Coppola, a film based on the gang and their Hollywood shopping spree is now in the works. Challenged, Watson fought for the role but admits being coy about her portrayal of Niers character. This is how much I hate myself in the movie: I dont think Im going to be able to watch it, she says. Its the first time I couldnt watch myself.

The film is slated to be released next year.
