subject: Shining Shoes Speak Louder For You! [print this page]

Shoes tend to lose their original shine quite early, probably after the second or the third use. It generally happens with sport shoes as they go through hard times in mud and dust. Therefore, you need to be very particular about them, even the formal shoes, get bad during the monsoons. Stepping in the puddle and getting your shoes dirty becomes an inevitable chore during the rainy days. You need to make sure that your shoe shines as they speak for your style, now be it your Nike football shoes or your Red Tape formal shoes. You must ensure them to be clean and tidy. For the sport shoes you can wipe them with a damp cloth or else you can wash them in the washing machine. Canvas shoes can be washed in a washing machine, but soak them in warm water and laundry soap, before putting them in the washer. Once the soap gets soaked by the shoes you can put them in the washer with a towel so that the shoes do not bounce too much. Once they get cleaned, squeeze the extra water from the shoes and put them under the sun to get dry. Here are the few steps that would help you to keep your shoes shining always.

Things that you would need to make your shoes shine are shoe polish or wax, polish brush, old toothbrush, shoe shine brush, and an old cotton cloth. Make sure all your products are clean so that there are no unfamiliar marks on your shoes.

-You should always start from the scratch; therefore clean the excess mud, dust, and various other things from the surface of your shoes, boots, or heels. You can do that by using a shoe shine brush or damp cloth. It is always better to use a damp cloth first and then use a shoe shine brush to clean the dust from the surface detailing.

-Check for the wax or shoe polish that matches the leather color of the shoes. If you do not have it, then go to the market and buy a matching can of the wax or crme shoe polish. Do not polish the leather with a different color polish; it will make the shoe look terrible.

-Take a polish brush and start applying the shoe polish on the shoes in a circular motion. Keep repeating the motion till the time the shoe leather gets a dull coating. Use an old toothbrush to polish the thigh spots or areas which are tough for the shoe polish brush to reach.

-Once you get over with the polishing step, leave your shoes for 15 minutes, so that the polish gets dried up. Do not use polish or any such tainted products for your Nike football shoes.

-Now, take a shoe shine brush and brush your shoes with it, to get the shine.

-Buffer your shoes with a clean cotton cloth to have a gleaming shine on them. You can also use your old t-shirt to this step.
