subject: Creative Uses For Generators [print this page] Many people think that generators are only for backing up a residence or building in case of a power outage, or for supplying power in remote locations, but generators are used in creative ways every day. Some of them may surprise you, and not all of them are practical, but hey it works. Coming up with creative ways to use the everyday products at your disposal can be a fun and exciting adventure.
Charging a Faulty Alternator
So you are two hundred miles into your three state road trip when all of a sudden the radio in your truck goes out and the dash dies. The battery will not hold a charge and you have to limp along until you get to the nearest town where the mechanic tells you that the alternator has gone on the fritz. Not wanting to wait for three days until a new one can arrive; you rent a small gas generator. Your significant other looks at you like you are crazy, but soon enough a jury rigged setup has the generator connected to the alternator and youre off. While not terribly efficient, it tides the truck over until a replacement alternator can be found. Just do not try travelling at night; the generator might not be able to power your lights as well.
Outdoor Movies
Camping, or even just driving out into the country, can be turned into a scream fest when you have a generator. Lawn chairs, a king size sheet (or just the side of a tent, a generator, a projector, and some extension cords are all that is needed to turn any location into an impromptu movie theatre. Many people thought the The Village was lame, but try watching it in the middle of the woods at night; even a B horror movie would be scary out there. Or turn a romantic night out camping up a notch by projecting The Notebook onto the side of a tent. Just be sure to bring enough extension cords to separate the generator from the speakers oh yeah, bring speakers.
A Rave under the Stars
Love throwing parties but hate finding a venue and getting busted for noise complaints? So do we, that is why we started having some of our shindigs out of city limits. Make sure you are allowed to be wherever the party is. If its a clear night use trees as a backdrop for lights and lasers, the leaves and branches make a great affect. Taking a party to the outdoors requires a lot more planning than one inside. Bathrooms, refreshments, seating, everything must be brought out there. And of course, be sure to have the right amount of electric suppliers to keep the bass bumping.
Electric suppliers have many uses other than the traditional ones. Their uses are only stopped by the owners imagination. Use them to get across the country, entertain yourself why you do it, and have a great time with all of your friends.
