It is a suite of enterprise level products for integrating data, i.e. ETL. It has pioneered with the concept of query, reporting and analysis with the invention of QRA semantic layer in 1990. It summarizes a lower level object that executes a business process. The user interfaces can be thought of as views of large grained BO. These are the data models that capture the semantics of business concepts and are directly useful for business processes. BO is different from simple bits and bytes data embedded inside software; they are used directly by business developers to implement business functions which are based on system functions. Business concepts and system implementations are separated levels; such partition of it allows business developers to build business components without comprehensive knowledge of underlying software technologies like database systems, communication protocols and specific programming languages. It increases the inter-operability among business process. Technically each business process is built as an application which encapsulates a specific task, but business process have to get interact frequently. When BO is concealed inside applications, it is hard for you to inter-operate without a deep understanding of the implementations of each application. It makes business process interaction to be hard and intricate. There plenty of business object jobs, which are available in the IT industry. You can simplify the interaction of business processes by unraveling business objects from underlying systems. The business logic is separated from the lower level system implementation.
However, it has a unique concept to the business application world. These days, IT industry does not support BO concepts as part of other functionality like analysis, integration and data transformation. It is the part of business intelligence (BI). In particular, BI is an increasingly important building block in todays enterprise because it directly helps decision making. But present BI technology deals with traditional database system which will not handle BO directly. It has a prevailing way to signify rich data inside enterprises. There are some Meta model of generic BO which can be deployed for specific models such as Websphere product centre (WPC) models, when it is added to ETL tools once then all Bo can be connected to the ETL tools. You can use BO with other systems like rational database system and BI tools, without breaking the BO abstraction the objects need to be exposed to ETL systems.
