subject: Fun And Creative Wedding Shower Games [print this page] In the weeks leading up to the wedding, the bride is the center of attention. From dress fittings to showers and parties, she enjoys a busy schedule that's hopefully bringing all her plans together as the big day arrives. The wedding shower is a great time to shower her with gifts as well as relieve stress through fun games!
The Safety Pin Game
As they arrive, guests receive a safety pin and instructions on avoiding a specific and predetermined wedding-related word. Some examples may include "bride," "wedding," "ceremony," or another word that would naturally come up during bridal shower conversation. If a guest uses the forbidden word, another guest can take her safety pin, typically the first one to notice she's said it! The guest who has the most safety pins at the end of the event wins.
Purse Bingo (What's Inside Your Purse?)
Have each guest pull out her purse. As you name various items, the first guest to find one of those items in her purse and pull it out will receive a prize. At the beginning of the game, common items can be named (lipstick, receipt, glasses), but as the game progresses, more unusual items begin to be named (toothbrush, sewing kit, safety pin).
Share Your Favorite Recipe
Many of us have quick and easy recipes that we can recite at the drop of a hat since we've made them so many times. As guests arrive, each one is given a recipe card and asked to share her favorite recipe with the bride. It can be a meal, snack, or dessert. She'll end up with a stash of easy and delicious recipes to share with her new hubby!
Share a Recipe for a Successful Marriage
Every guest, whether married or not, is asked to write what they believe to be the perfect recipe for a successful marriage. Each "recipe" should be creative and unique to the guest! The bride will be asked to read each recipe aloud later on during the shower and guess who wrote it. Plus, she'll have some fun and wise advice as a keepsake from each guest!
Celebrity Guess-Who
As each guest enters the venue, a slip of paper with a celebrity's name is taped to his or her back. Throughout the party, they need to ask questions of the other guests in order to figure out the name. The questions should be able to be answered by a simple "yes" or "no."
How Well Do You Know the Couple?
While planning the shower, ask the bride about various special events that occurred during the time she and her fianc were dating or engaged. For example: "When was your first kiss?" "Where did you go on your first date?" "Where did he propose?" Use these questions to come up with a worksheet each guest will fill out. Once all the answers are filled in, the bride will answer the questions and the guest who gets the most right will win a prize!
