In the Parliament of India Andhra Pradesh has 18 seats in the Rajya Sabha (the Upper House) and 42 in the Lok Sabha (the Lower House). The first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh was Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is the current Chief Minister of the state.
Indian National Congress (Congress), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) are the major political parties in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh has the second-largest film industry, Telugu Film Industry, in India. It was shifted from Madras to Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh has around 5500 cinema halls. The state has also world"s largest integrated film studio complex, Ramoji Film City, at over 2,000 acres of land, located in Hyderabad.
A total of 1,46,954 km of roads are maintained by the state. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is the major public transport corporation owned by the government of Andhra Pradesh. Railways are a major transport in the state.
