subject: Why Working From Home Might Be Right For You [print this page]

Working from home as become increasingly popular over the last few decades, as people try to cut the costs of commuting to work and more home-based opportunities become available. There are all kinds of jobs out there that could be done from home, and many people find that they choose to try working from home as an experiment only to find that it becomes their dream job. Working from home comes with many benefits, although like any job it does has its downsides as well.

If you are considering trying out working from home, here are some of the best bits that may help you in making your decision:

1)You get to be your own boss

If you currently work in an office or some other work environment and you have lots of different people that you have to report to, this could become a thing of the past when working from home. This is definitely one of the biggest perks to home-working, but it does mean that people need to have much self-control when it comes to actually getting down to work. The temptation to shirk work responsibilities for a day or two can be all-consuming, but as long as you are willing to put in the hours where they are needed, you should be fine.

2)You decide your workload

If you have a packed social calendar one week, you could decrease your workload to make things a bit easier for yourself. You could always get a bit more work done then next week in order to meet your usual income when working from home, which can be very useful.

3)You get to work in your own environment

One of the issues that a lot of people have with their current employment is that they dislike their work environment. If you work in a dingy office or your workplace is too far from your home to make travel comfortable, working from home could certainly alleviate this issue.

4)You dont have to travel anywhere

Speaking of faraway workplaces, when working from home you dont have to go anywhere just climb out of bed and head for the PC. You could even do your work while sat in front of the TV, which definitely has its advantages!

5)You dont have to deal with co-workers

Many people find it hard to strike up workplace friendships and, for many, it can seem like a chore. If you find yourself thinking this all too often, rather than having to deal with pleasantries and niceties, why not switch to working from home, where you wouldnt need to deal with anyone but yourself.
