1. Patience to understand a subject beyond novice level
True self help and personal development can be broad fields however one must be patient with the sub topic of their choice. A large portion of people will read books, never do the exercises and in the case where they do, it will not be sustained long enough.
The truth is every seed requires time to grow. Every material requires patience, persistence and determination to begin to take root.
Be patient with yourself and focus. If you are acquiring material on relationships, focus on that with positive emotions, do the exercises and think about that material until you begin to see some results. Just persist and Universal Laws will handle the rest.
There is always a shiny new thing, always a new book, an exciting audio or an inspiring seminar. Make your choice of what material you need and make the decision to commit to it until you are proficient.
Remember a scattered focus achieves nothing. Pick one and focus on that single thing solely.
TIP: After reading a book, re-read it immediately again after a few days. You will have an amazing experience and realize that you really didn't pick that much up in the first reading. It will surprise you in a big way.
