subject: Are All Women Eligible For Breast Reduction? [print this page]

There are certain aspects required to be placed in the group for a breast reduction procedure. The breast size of a woman should be much larger than average for their body frame. The reason being is that woman who have oversized breasts frequently experience pain in their neck. Breast reduction is a way to decrease it.

Some added items that make you eligible are chronic neck, shoulder and back pains. Although, the optimal way to find out if you are eligible for this type of cosmetic surgery is to have a consultation with a breast reduction surgeon. A thorough examination and interview will occur and a complete medical history disclosure will be required. The perfect patient needs to be in decent health overall.

Another limitation, or requirement if you will, is that the woman should have acquired the age of 18 years or greater. If she is below this age, most surgeons will decline to perform the procedure since their body is still growing. Pregnant woman, women who are breastfeeding or those who are strongly considering to have a child will not be considered for breast reduction mammaplasty.

All candidates should be able to cope with possible complications. As with all surgeries, there is no guarantee that the result will be how they thought. At times, the outcome can bring about depression so emotional preparation is needed.

It's not a simple thing to determine if a woman is a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. If they are declined it can be traumatic too as now their only option is to live with oversized breasts which are uncomfortable, bring about discomfort and pain, limit participation in sports that require lots of movement. So, it's significant to disclose everything you can to the breast specialist in your favor to alleviate the pain and restrictions you currently had to endure.
