subject: Steps In Creating Modern Infographics [print this page]

Infographics or Information graphics are fast becoming a significant marketing essential for companies of all sizes, acting as visual shorthand for everyday concepts.

As more and more information and ideas bombard us every day, infographics (the use of graphic or symbolic visual representations to illustrate information, data or knowledge that would be unwieldy in text form) will go a long way in presenting complex information quickly, clearly and as interesting and attractive as possible; thus, helping businesses connect with their customers and prospects alike on a more meaningful and understandable level.

Nowadays, infographics surround us in the media, in published works, both pedestrian and scientific, in road signs and manuals and even in the internet.

Infographics are now used in websites to get tweets and link shares as these images are a great way to create site contents that are highly link-worthy and shareable; thus, increasing your chance to be highly ranked in search engines. Nowadays, search engines reward websites that are linked a lot.

Here are the steps in creating content with infographic:

1.Do Research. Hunt for industry-relevant topics. Leverage popular social media and search through them to look for topics that are hot or not. Find out the most-shared-or-talked-about type of content.

2.Visual Conceptualization. From the selected ideas, create or fashion out a related yet unique content. Decide on the angle on how to approach and then present the information in another unique yet still attractive way. Present the data visually in a compelling, attractive and easily understandable way. You can use blog posts, videos or infographics. Make sure to organize your ideas in a cohesive manner. Make sure that the title, intro, subtitles and the different sections and contents are organized as part of the same theme.

3.Placement. Draw first a list of placement sites. Make sure to post in popular sites, aim as high as possible. Then determine and highlight your target audience. Make sure to start early your campaign.

4.Content Creation. Make sure to organize your content that would draw and attract in readers. Create your contents attractively, stating clearly and cohesively the idea you want to impart. You can use backgrounds, colors and images as a way to blend seamlessly your contents with the graphics. You can also include high quality outbound links. Make sure to explain things clearly and be helpful as you can.

5.Publishing. Make sure to be respectful, polite and concise with your emails. Dont hesitate to follow up your emails with a call. This would establish that you are serious and not a spammer. Make sure to confirm the publishing date as early as possible. Be involved; interact with your target audience in follow up discussions.

6.Follow-up Promotion. Once your content is published, make sure to not ignore it. Promote your published content. Make use of promotion avenues and as many as you can. Dont forget to build links to your content. Make sure to reach out to influencers in your industry.
