V.34 Fax Modem Software Supports Half-Duplex Operating Mode

Toronto, Canada GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its V.34 Fax Modem Software which implements the ITU-T V.34 standard for dial up modems of up to 33,600bps.The standard allows a half-duplex mode of operation for fax applications. TheV.34 faxmodem software provides adaptive signalling through line probing by adjusting to channel quality and capacity.

This V.34 fax modem software features trellis coding and shell mapping which gives the modem a robust design even in the case of heavily impaired channels. It incorporates a higher level of optional capabilities and adaptability than the lower V.series modems to make the best use of the available conditions. One of the most significant characteristics of the software is its use of increased bit rates to utilize maximum bandwidth permitted by the channel.

Unlike lower speed modem standards where nominal bandwidth was set using a fixed carrier frequency, both the bandwidth and carrier frequencies are adaptive in V.34. GAO has V.34 fax modem software (fax data pump) available for Super Group 3 (Super G3) fax applications. The V.34 fax modem provides data signaling rates from 2400 to 33600 bps. It operates on 2-wire, point-to-point circuits and dial up or leased circuits. It also utilizes QAM on each channel and operates in synchronous mode.

The high performance V.34 fax modem software belongs to GAOs family of Fax Software. This line also has similar products such as V.17 Fax Modem software which operates within a multi-tasking environment or as a stand-alone application and is optimized for fixed-point arithmetic, V.27ter Fax Software which implements the ITU-T V.27ter Recommendation used in the general switched telephone network, and T.38 Fax Relay Software which is fully compliant with ITU-T T.38 fax relay specification while supporting V.17/V.29/V.27ter Standards. This line also includes Group 3 (G3) Fax Software Packages which is most commonly used for half duplex, Group 3 facsimile data communication along the GSTN or digital communication channels.
