subject: Acting Auditions [print this page] Acting Auditions Every acting career starts with acting auditions, where casting directors seek talented individuals they hope will play a great part in a memorable commercial, show or movie. Acting auditions are held on a regular basis, so be prepared! Hire an agent to guide you, or find auditions where you are by reading newspapers like Variety. Youll first need to produce a high quality headshot to distribute and a good resume. When you find an acting audition, and want the part, go dressed neatly and casually. Arrive early so you will have time to compose yourself and relax before your name is called. THIS COULD BE YOUR BIG BREAK! When your name is called, give them your headshot and resume. Then, do your best on stage! Most acting auditions will require you to do a one or two minute monologue and then read from part of a script. Some companies will give you the audition script days beforehand so you can practice. SUCCESS! THEN, COMES THE INTERVIEW! After your time on stage, if theyre interested in your talent, you will be interviewed. Dont be shy! Answer each question to the best of your ability. If they accept you, AWESOME! If they think you have talent but just arent right for this part, dont despair. Prepare yourself for the next time. WHAT TO EXPECT DURING ACTING AUDITIONS! Most auditions take about 2 hours. And, there could be many people in attendance. Try not to be nervous. Heck, if you get the part, you may be on your way to international stardom! Whats there to be nervous about over this little audition? If you miss the acting audition for some reason, try to arrange a private audition. It may be possible to send your acting audition by mail or to post it on the companys website. While the acting audition is the starting point of your acting career, you should research the company, so you know who they are. As in every human endeavor, there are scam artists who use a persons desire for acting as a tool to victimize them. If they charge an entrance fee to attend the audition, walk away! IF EVERYTHING IS ABOVE BOARD,
DO YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST TO IMPRESS! Being accepted during the audition doesnt necessarily guarantee you a part. The director may have a large number of talented people to consider. If you dont get the part you audition for, you may be offered another position within the production. Stay POSITIVE! During Your Acting Auditions We all know how much more desirable a positive attitude is than a negative one, in any person! Thats especially true of an actor! Should you be hurt if not selected? Absolutely not! Youre just beginning! Many GREAT actors and actresses have been passed over in these early processes. Landing a part is not easy and you may be rejected many times before someone says, yes. Just keep honing your skills. Your day will come! When you answer another casting call, forget about the previous audition, and stay focused on the task at hand. As an actor or actress, you must be professional! Go to all acting auditions prepared! And, play the role to the best of your ability! Who knows? This could be the first of many roles on your road to fame and fortune! For more about acting auditions visit http://actingandmodeling.net
